why I do what I do: Interactives are often silly and profound at the same time. Their end users are violently curious, so it’s a constant challenge. The process of inventing these exhibits is as good as group activities get. Laughter is a big part of each day.
last book read: "John Adams" by David McCullough
hobbies: Wooden boats. Sometimes I even get to sail them.
quote: “Turn it off!! Turn it off!!! Often heard during early prototyping.....
profile: Terminally curious. My family won’t go to a museum with me because I read everything. I’ve arrived at this job from many other pursuits, and it seems to draw on everything I’ve ever done. What I love most about it is that everybody can contribute to the best end product. The challenge is to pick the best ideas.
favorite time on the job: Early prototyping, brainstorming with a crew, using bits of stuff from all corners to build unique machines that do things.
latest accomplishment: Reframed a 40 year old Beetle Cat sailboat. But there’s still a lot to left to do before it swims.
