The new “Science Learning Center” at the Bishop Museum provides opportunities to explore and learn about the volcanoes, oceans and biology of the Hawaiian Islands. The 16,000 square feet of interactive exhibits include a walk-in volcano that periodically “erupts,” a deep ocean tank where visitors can operate underwater robotic vehicles and laboratories to provide close-up examinations of the islands’ native plant and animal life. Maltbie was responsible for coordination of multiple subcontractors, fabrication and installation of exhibits, interactive displays and scenic elements.
