Our Work
The beautifully crafted “Forest Discovery Center”, which first opened in 1971, underwent a major renovation effort to allow for new interactive exhibits and refreshed graphics. The first floor now focuses on forest science, recreation and water quality, with a new “Dynamic Forest” exhibit that features a complete underground exploration pit. Through virtual reality, visitors can see what it is like to be a smoke jumper, and kids can plant trees, learn about fire safety and check out all the amazing products that come from wood. The second floor is dedicated to a tour of the world’s forests, exploring the land and peoples of Russia, China, South Africa and Brazil.
