Since opening its doors in 1929, the Heard Museum has been known for quality exhibitions and events that celebrate the vitality and creativity of Native cultures and art. The Museum’s newest gallery “Native Peoples of the Southwest” is a highlight of the Museum’s 75th anniversary celebration. Maltbie was responsible for 500 linear feet of artifact display cases as well as a very intricate S-curved slat wall system that forms a backdrop for the showcases and serves as a section divider between galleries. Maltbie was also responsible for coordinating with the GC onsite to integrate a full size adobe hut and oven into this layout.
