The Disney Family Museum is a celebration of Walt Disney’s life and his work. Located at the historic Presidio in San Francisco overlooking San Francisco Bay; the former US Army barracks underwent an extensive renovation which included a 16,000 square foot addition. It tells the story of the genius of Disney, a poor farm boy who became a risk-taking innovator and one of the major cultural influences of the past century.

Maltbie’s involvement with the project spanned three years and included preconstruction consultation, the development of extensive prototypes and mockups as well as comprehensive fabrication and installation services. The museum; comprised of nearly 36,000 square feet contained eleven galleries that included 110 custom showcases and 1600 artifacts; both of which were included in Maltbie’s scope of work. Designed by the Rockwell Group, the exhibit’s incorporated sophisticated multimedia productions and nearly 1200 graphic labels and images.
