With a planned opening in 2011, the Utah Museum of Natural History at Rio Tinto Center will house 35,000 square feet of exhibits intended to inspire wonder and discovery in the natural world in which we live. The building which is being constructed to LEED certified standards will house an extensive collection of natural history specimens and artifacts. The highly immersive exhibit environment which was designed by Ralph Appelbaum Associates incorporates dioramas, original artifacts, as well as electronic and mechanical interactive experiences. Maltbie was awarded the project following a competitive bid process and is currently on schedule to achieve an opening date in the fall of 2011. The project scope includes comprehensive project management, prototyping and development, conserved showcase systems, graphic applications, fabrication as well as installation and site management.
